My front hydraulic disc brakes are binding or rubbing (not sure why).

how do you adjust them. There does not seem to be any knob to re-position the pads like on mech disc brakes?

Do I bleed some fluid out or remove the wheel and push the pads apart?

Re-align the caliper then get out and ride in some mud, they’ll soon settle in. 😉

If that fails (which it wont)

Buy some brake fluid, either shimano/magura stuff cheep from CRC for a big bottle or DOT 5.1 and some cotton buds (those things you flick ear wax out with).

Remove the pads, pump the lever a couple of times until the pads have moved out a little bit (but not touching, you have to be able to push them back).

Wipe the exposed pistons with fluid to clean them (use the correct fluid because the wrong fluid or something like GT85 will destroy the seals. And push them all the way back in. Repeat this a few times to lubricate the seals. Give them one last clean with a dry bud to remove any excess oil so it doesn’t dribble onto the pads.

Re-install the pads and away you go.

Are you sure the wheel is in straight? If it’s a QR and you’ve had the wheel out, its worth making sure the wheel is properly in place. Sometimes easier to do this be undoing the QR with the front wheel on the ground and then doing it up again with the weight of the bike still on the axle.
