Im considering fitting some additional seats in the back of my VW Transporter T4. Does anyone know the legal requirements, ie seatbelts etc? I would probably have them rearward facing.

    Thanks

You will need to get your V5 updated to show the increased number of seats, and the seat and seatbelt mountings will need to be good enough to satisy an MOT tester.

If you get seats that have integral belts, you will need some serious bolts and spreader plates under the floor, large washers will just pull through in an accident.

If rear facing you will almost certainly want to get a window or two put in the sides as well?

And dont forget to tell your insurance who'll invalidate any claims made if you don't.

What model T4 is it? Panel van, window van, Kombi (exAA) etc? There are many different ways of fitting seats based on van model, safety, and most importantly your peace of mind if your kids are going to be strapped in to them.

    Loads of info here: http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/

But please feel free to email me, address in profile as I have pondered at great length the best way of doing this.
