the moor to sea route in the NYM is lots of gravel road type action. I rode a 100km loop the other weekend that only had 1200m of climb on it. Sure theres enough to find another 60 odd K of it…

Depends what you mean by off road. Are you looking for pure off road or are you happy with sustrans style links? There are various options possible around Kielder. Sandstone way and C2C are two other obvious choices as they are standard. Pennine bridleway could work.

managed to put a nice little spin together.
starting at Sutton bank carpark, and finishing at dalby trail center.
    looks like good fun…..honest.

    Sounds good..Very good.

Only trouble would be getting back from Dalby? Unless cars etc are left there in advance.

The route I’m planning will take in a lot of the moors, looking at taking the steam train to Goathland then head west across to danby and fryup (maybe bransdale) , then down past osso, gormire, sutton, hood, yearsley, castle howard, and back towards york.

Still early days yet, but it’ll sample a lot of excellent (some off piste) trails.

Southern Upland Way, pick part of it – probably Moffet to the East Coast.

+1 for putting a route together using the steam railway in the NYM. Also, for finishing in Robin Hood’s Bay if you can for a pint and some fish and chips!

If you want a 100+ mile loop round the surrey hills look me up on strava – George Budd. Almost all off road.

Could do the Kielder 100 course? I’ve got a GPX file if you want it?

I just did all the trails at Coed y Brenin last weekend, that was 82 miles, so you could add a bit onto that.

    Dalby Red a few times?

Not condoning riding on footpaths , but there must be some decent chunks of the Cleveland way that could be utilised.

Sarn Helen Trail would be about 100 from Conwy branching off to the train at Aberystwyth.

my route follows the Cleveland way from Sutton over black hambleton past osmotherley, up past gliding club to lord stones, round to battersby/kildale, then south and round ironstone railway and back down to rosedale. then lastingham, and cropton forest. over into langdale forest, the a circuit of dalby red to finish.

Ton, you make me jealous. I used to love the Moors but just don’t get up there since I moved south and my parents sold out. That route sounds just excellent

Yup, sounds great Tony! Was thinking of something along those lines, or the Lyke Wake Walk route..
Mind, I’ve only a Krampus as an MTB now, so I’ll be doing nowt Gnarr..
