So I am going to change my cranks from a 3 piece bmx style to a 3 piece mtb style and I have a couple of what may turn out to be stupid questions.

I have a DMR Trailstar mrk 3, I have been on the DMR webpage and looked at the info about my bike but it doesn’t say what size my bottom bracket is?
Ive seen on chain reaction they come in different sizes 68mm, 70mm, 73mm, how can tell my size?

I am thinking of getting some second hand race face cranks or shimano, is the axle that goes through the BB (attached to the cranks at either side) a universal size or do I need a shimano BB with there cranks and a diff on for race face?

    Tape measure/ruler.

Shimano and raceface etc. cranks and bbs are cross compatible AFAIK.
