Dave we're off to lakes next week so will be trying it out there. But am liking the ilkley moor idea.

Walna Scar would give good views. There's some nice quarry hut remains on the Duddon side I liked the look of :o)

Walna Scar might be an option; I was thinking the next one along, Consiton Old Man. Great views to the east and south, for the sunrise over the sea.
Helvellyn might be good too, high up but not too far from the car.
