managed 48 miles on my mtb today. i am ruined, my legs dont feel like my own and keep going into cramp spasms.
i have nettle stings and bramble lashes all over my legs and shins.
my bum hurts, my neck feels stiff…….the pain from it all is fantastic.

Nice one, brother had double bypass not long before you had your op and he is complaining in the same way.. Keep having to tell him he’s just unfit. Payback for all the years he destroyed me !

That’s a lot. What sort of bike/terrain? I recently did a 62K (38.5 miles) ride in the Cairngorms with 6000′ ascent, took 10 hours and was some of the roughest longest descents in the area we were in. That was day 1 of 4. Legs were wasted for days 2-3-4 and made me remember that for proper mountain epics on a 31lb full susser with DH tyres that 1 X 10 is evil after the first 40k at my age! Call me old fashioned but 2 X 10 for the next time!! Got home and ordered a steel hardtail!!!

    48 miles though……..that’s a lot.

That’s good going! I did 30 the other week and it didn’t do me any favours, did sleep well though.

    What sort of bike/terrain

    on one parkwood.

good old fashioned West Yorkshire/Kirklees muddy snickets, ginnels, woods, parks, steps, old coal mines, tpt, wakefield wheel type stuff.

Well done mate. Seriously don’t over do it, frequency is more important than duration.

what did they actually do to your ticker in the end?

the surgeon did a keyhole procedure to remove my left atrial appendage. this is done to reduce the risk of strokes.
he then found a hole in a pulminary vein which required him to open my chest to fix.
whilst my chest was open he did a thing called a Cox Maze procedure.
2 hour op turned into a 8 hour op.
