on one bike only?
Not sure I could spend that much, even if I had it!
I'd be inclined to be a couple, probably an Intense Slopestyle tricked out with Fox 36s and some lightweight kit, which would speak for about £3k, and the rest on a nice steel hardtail. Though I've got one of the latter already actually!

and i'd certainly not buy anything for that kind of money on something what i'd have to pedal!!!.

if i had 4.5k to spend on a bike i'd buy...
..a car.
are you guys nuts?
how is a 4.5k bike any more enjoyable to ride than a 2.5k bike?
that questions wasn't rhetorical.
peace out!Posted 2 years ago # -
Echo something with an engine in.

Fisher 29 superfly.
They look the business.
But then I have a Ti 29er, so maybe if I could find a decent 2nd hand Ducati 748R (or S) in yellow for that money that's what I'd buy - and go racing again!Posted 2 years ago # -

it'd be either a very wealthy or a very silly man that would spend 4.5k on building himself a custom frame with little to no knowledge on frame design, geometry or even what he prefers in a frame (or why?).

You can get a 5-bar gate for a lot less than 4.5k Ton....

Oooh, I think I'd have a Cotic Soda, XTR & Hope throughout, an off road tandem and a really nice handmade tourer.
Have you had a look at Ellis Briggs in Shipley Ton?
Recently phoned round a few places enquiring about tourers (Hewitt, Mercian etc) but Briggs seemed the most accommodating and helpful, good bit cheaper than the others as well.Posted 2 years ago # -
Like Nuke, a 1.8 - 2.5k bike would be plenty for me; the rest on a few kick arse weeks riding in places I otherwise wouldn't be able to would be the real fun bit.
Or even keep what I have, add a few upgrades (Fork, Wheelset, nothing else really needs changing, and spend 4k on even more/longer trips away.
After all the riding is the fun bit, the bike is just a means to do it!
