Would a usb-equipped tablet with with a 3G dongle and the sim out of my phone?

The tablet would have to have the drivers for the dongle. ‘s unlikely, TBH.

Why not just tether it to your phone?

One of those wireless 3G modems perhaps?

Pick up a Huawei E585 (aka mifi, pocket wifi or similar), they’re easy to unlock and provide a wifi network that connects out over 3G. Or just get a phone that supports tethering.

yes. And your desire ought to have the “Wifi hotspot” app in it’s OS now as well.

If you’re on Gingerbread, it’s on the Quick Settings tab of the drop-down status bar. Or, you can configure it though Settings / Wireless & Networks / Portable hotspot settings

If you’re not on Gingerbread, you really should be.

    ur doin it rong spoonboy.

go to your desire, launch wifihotspot, set up an SSID and password.

Turn on wifi on the tablet and set it to log on to your phone generated hotpost.

    That’s exactly what I did.

PHone says 1 device connected, tablet says it’s connected, phone has 3g signal, but it’s not allowing me to flame loosers online.
