   I'm just thinking about buying one of them On One Scandal 29ers, thinking about what to fit it out with, and got to considering tyre choice. I've never run a 29er before. Normally, I get fairly long life out of my tyres, but I had some of those Conti Speed Kings once and it was like they were wearing out so quickly you were leaving a black rubber trail wherever you rode.

   Am I right in assuming that a 29er tyre will last significantly longer due to the increased circumference? If so, is a 29er actually the ultimate money-saving bike choice?

   Yes a 29er tyre will last 29/26ths longer than a comparable tyre on a 26er

   From now until spring.. Bonty mud x! If i manage to build the spearfish up this winter its getting mud x rubber for sure.

   Theres also maxxis beavers in 29.

   29er tyre last much longer than 29er wheels due to the 29er wheel explosion phenomenon.

   Yes but you do more miles on a 29er as they don't go around corners and have to run very wide. I normally cover at least 10 miles more than my mate on his 26er on the 3 mile commute to the circus.

   29ers don't wear the tyres out. People just buy them to smug it up on here and secretly ride 26" bikes alone at night instead.

   SmallBlock8 fan here, for the drier months. First real winter on the 29er Inbred, & have Nevegal's front & rear. Rear is fine but from is awful. They don't do a BlueGroove for the 29er. I tried Mountain Kings but weren't great.

   A 29er wheel implosion? A fancy word for what happens to a lightweight 29er wheel that gets hammered or cornered beyond its capabilities by some fat twunt that doesnt know where or when to draw the line on his or hers bikes capabilities ;O)

    The wheels are biggerer so you cover more mile per knobbly bit (mpkb). That's why 29er tyres last longer you have at least 1.5 26ers worth of wear.

    This unfortunately ruined in most cases by 29er being owned by fat biffers, who put more weight on the rubber and wear them out quicker.

    If you are slinky and ride a 29er the tyres will last for ever

    Set of SB8s and a set of Nevegals here, good for swapping between dependant on the weather. Using Nev front, SB8 back at the moment and it's been fine, 2x SB8 was great fun in summer when it was dry.

    Thick mud is the one time they both fail, my Nevs totally packed up with mud at Sleepless in the summer, to the point of scratching the frame (Scandal) to bits.

    Not sure about the tire life, I think it depends more on the rubber than the wheel size. My old WTB Stouts gripped like mad but barely lasted 2 months.
    My fav combo is Bonti 29-4 (front) and 29-3 TLR (rear). Im thinking of putting on something more aggressive on the rear for the winter months.
    If your going rigid you might want some big bags - the 29-4 are very big.

    Ardent up front and Aspen on the back all year round, never change them as too tight to by different
