Anyone do this? Will I die? Want to raise the front end of my ss a bit and figure that longer forks will not only slacken it a touch but theyll offer a bit more flex than just fitting a high rise bar.
Any thoughts? Been toying with a Singular fork as Id heard good things...
been done quite often I gather.
29er a-c usually in the region of 470mm.
depending on your frame (but let's assume 100mm fork suspension corrected), it's probably designed around 445mm.
10mm changes head angle by about half a degree I think.
So youd slacken the HA by about 1-1.5degs
This will change your trail and rake too, as well as length and angle. Which could mess up the handling in a horrible way. Or it could be fantastic. Try it and see!

Did it on my Inbred, but your putting off the inevitable...

Worked great. 440mm fork always felt too low & twitchy. 470mm lifted the front nicely. Didnt notice any difference climbing etc, but was more stable going down steeper stuff. Tried it with 29" wheel but didnt like it.
Swapped it for a 29er Inbred eventually. (All my 26" bikes then got sold off).
Can highly recomend the Singular Swift fork. Running one on my Inbred at the moment. I'd say its on par with the On-One carbon for comfort. The Exotic carbon 29er fork is nice also, bit more flex than the On-One & better finished. The Swift fork flexes more than youd think.

we may have corresponded about this by email? Anyhow, it comes down to what you are trying to achieve. If you want to use a 29" front wheel and your frame is designed for a 100-120mm travel 26" suspension fork a Gryphon fork at 445mm but with 55mm offset will work best. The Gryphon fork is the same as the Hummingbird fork and was designed with exactly that intent in mind - swapping between 100-120mm suspension fork with 26" wheel and rigid 29er front.
A Swift (470/48) fork with 29 wheel will likely slacken things considerably and give very ponderous handling. A Swift fork with a 26" front wheel might be OK but would look odd indeed.

Singular forks are nice forks ...
I've operated a '92 Kona with a set of Project II 29er forks (and 26" wheels F&R) for ages now, and I think it's great, it's completely transformed the bike (for the better). The P2's are are 470mm A-C. Salsa's 29er forks are a similar length and the Fargo V2's and the Enabler forks give you interesting mounting options - tho' with the Enabler, you'll need to rebuild the wheel on a 135mm hub.
Here's that Kona (it appears on here often enough, a couple more won't hurt).
