Doin a 200 miler soon that’s about 80% Road so considering a rigid fork and skinny tyres to try and keep up with other riders probably fitter and on cx’s & hybrids.

But my mtb frame is built for long travel forks. Would a 29er rigid like one of those bontrager switchblades be a good idea? Or is it a step to crazy?

On a similar note, my frame also has no eyelets or hope of fitting panniers. While we’ll probably be hosteling is this and the speed difference between 26″ and 700c enough reason to start considering saving up for a roadrat or something instead?

There are pannier racks available which just clamp onto the seatpost, an option for full suss bikes or with no mounts.
