Bigger wheels of a different kind; the 29er suspension proto is getting lots of attention here at Eurobike…

Looks interesting though, I want a go. Seems like an ST4-type tubed design would make more sense tbh but I guess this plays more to the Orange brand (always suspected they’d have sold more Bloods and ST4s if they had skips for swingarms)

    no?

    but a Five’s a Five because it’s got Five.

but this will be a Five despite having Four?

well, i’m glad that makes sense…

    A Five has 5.5 inches!

is this actually any different from a regular 5 with a slightly shorter stroke shock (same eye-to-eye) installed?

    if you look closely it’s not a Five it’s a strange….

Great combination, emphatic FIVE owners now thrown into same pool as evangelical 29er owners, can’t wait to hear the banter going on (through adenoids) at the post ride pub meet……..

maybe but the most interesting bike, I doubt it. its just big wheels on a century old design, there were loads of those at the show

A Five front with a longer swingarm and big forks loads of R&D went into that i suspect 🙄

But that’s the point for me it’s simple and works. How much do you think the Yeti SB-95 and IBIS Ripley are going cost? And the word complicated doesn’t do it justice.

The Ragley Big Ten Four looked ok too but it’s just a bit more of an unknown and tire clearance didn’t look massive from what I could see in the video.

yeah, like the 5 isn’t already expensive.

For what it is yes the 5 is expensive but it’s in the same price range as almost all 29er full suspension bikes.

It will be interesting to see the price difference between the Ragaley and the Orange when they come out.

Nice one, about time. 5 is the best susser I’ve tried in recent years but would never buy one as the wheels are too wee.
Now I might….if I can find the dough.

so other bikes are more expensive than a similar priced bike?

    nice reasoning.

going by other Ragley prices I suspect it’ll be fairly cheap

For what it is yes the 5 is expensive

Because it doesn’t have 50 pivots?

Nah, sorry that just looks plain wrong. It probably rides great and as they say you can’t see it when you’re riding it, but it looks cack*

*cack being a technical term 😉

Whenever there is a Five thread there are always people banging on about how expensive they are. Look if you can’t afford it get a better job or make more informed financial decisions or something then it wouldn’t worry you so much

No, it was called 5 (or originally Sub-5) because of the frame weight without a shock.

…Show me another bike with a handmade frame for the same money…

for the SAME money? – tricky…

    for a lot LESS money:

How are all the other bikes made? Just because they make them in teh far east doesn’t mean there is some magical robot sticking them together!

so if I don’t like the 5 AND can afford it but still think its expensive… where does that leave the fan boy argument?

its sounding a bit shitty when people are trying to justify an argument with how much people earn… you can’t buy taste.

Why does every post with Orange Five in it turn into a load of **** arguing if it’s good or they can/can’t afford it?
