    Hi guys

I have a Thomson seatpost which is 28.6 and my frame takes a 30.8. I’ve searched the net and can’t find the correct shim size so was wondering if anyone could offer advice?

I know there must be alternative methods i.e. using other size shims to fill the gap but unfortunately I have dyscalculia (number dyslexia) so can’t work it out.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers

I have a 28.6 Thomson too – if you do find a specific shim I’d be interested to hear.

I AM ALSO NOT QUALIFIED TO ADVISE (…however 🙂 )

I suppose all you really want is to add 2.2mm to the diameter, so a 26.8 to 29.0 or a 27.2 to 29.4 might be OK

I guess the shim would “open out” a bit, leaving a wider gap than is ideal – so perhaps 27.2 to 29.4 would be the better choice, SLIGHTLY

(not sure this exists though, closes I can see on CRC is 26.8 to 29.2 which might work or could be a bit too tight)

    Hi Mike

Thanks very much for your advice.

I’ve just ordered a 27.2 – 29.4 from Evans. I’ll report back to you when it arrives and I’ve fitted it. If it works – great, and if it doesn’t I’ll have to resort to using cut down beer cans!

    I’ll keep you posted.
