My mate is considering a nice road bike and I’ve told him he can borrow mine for a ride. Problem is I want to go with him and I’ll need to use my cx bike.

As it happens I’ve just built some new cx wheels, and bought some pro ones in 25 mm flavour for the roadie.

Rather than fit the cx tyres and put up with them, any reason I can’t throw on the pro ones for the afternoon.

They’ll be fine. I run 25s on 19mm rims permanently.

You might rather like it! I find the tyre, particularly in cornering gives a better feel. You can probably drop a few psi too as the tyre profile may be a bit wider than you’re used to.

No worries – just avoid having a tyre narrower than the rim for the risk of ‘railing’ on the rim

Ta.. They’ll be going on my new roadie wheels straight after.. If I can manage to get them set up!
