Ok so what the trick for getting the seatstay off so i can replace the bearings? The shock mount is narrower than the seat tube so how do you get it off. For the record ive done a good number of fsr bearing replacements so not after bearing removal tips thanks-just how to get the stay off-if you can…

If you google Specialized Epic 2012 technical manual there are exploded diagrams on page 18 of the pdf.
Tried to post a link but failed. Hth

There is indeed a diagram but that’s just a schematic of the frame-the question was how do you get the seat stay off -or am I missing something?

No-have you actually done this or are you just trying to be helpful?

I have actually done it, the seatstay bridge is flexible enough you just push the dropout together just enough to get the ends to pass the seat tube, yes a little scary at first but it’s fine.

Just trying, unsuccessfully, to be helpful.

Edit. Kept it on the first page though

Yep just give it a gentle squeeze , it won’t take much force.
