Anybody else decided to give the Dragon ride a miss next year?
Was tempted - but with last years fiasco of standing for over an hour to start. The timing chips not working and the more expensive entry price ... Added to the fact its pretty much on roads local to me .. I just decided to look for a different sportive that weekend.
So - anybody else decided to give it a miss next year?

I wouldn't bother. Done it a few times, and it chaos each time. Poor organisation, food and drink stops depleted. You may as well go self supported with a bunch of mates and spend teh money saved oin a damn good feast afterwards!
I don't really get riding UK sportifs and paying £25 plus for the benefit. They're hardly 'epic'....

I rode this year and wasn't planning to next due to the problems but I did enjoy the route. When I saw the tougher route for next year I thought I'd give it a go so I got a place; seems to be a few changes so hoping it'll work out well.

Have done it and enjoyed it the last two years, but won't be bothering next year, for variety's sake if nothing else. I won't miss the long wait at the start, but the rest is usually top notch so I'm sure I'll be back again sometime in the future.

did it a few years back and some londoner jumping red lights went into the back of me. can't be arsed.
Big issue was that the route did involve a fair amount of urban riding, when you got out in the countryside it is a nice route though.

Did it once and thoroughly enjoyed it, though a bit too much was in towns. Think the route has changed for next year though.

4th time for me. It's always been shockingly badly organised, but it's a good excuse for a weekend away.
Though I've just realised its the same weekend as Milan San Remo. Bugger.Posted 5 months ago # -
Is there a Milan - San Remo sportive then?

Yes. It's just under 300km.
