  • 1×10 36t setup – best cassette ratio?

I’m currently waiting on my 36t ring to arrive ready for my switch to 1×10. Thinking of gearing, what ratio of cassette would give me the best gear options?

    Cheers folks

I run a 36 up front and a 36-11 out back seem to be able to climb most things, 😀

I use 34t front, 11-36 rear – you need 11-36 at the back for a decent spread of gears, I think.

    I’ve been running 36t with a 9 speed 32t caseette.

It does make the steeper/longer hills a bit of a slog but it’s certainly better than my SS 🙂

11-36, no point in going 10 speed otherwise.

What njee said, as you can get an 11-34 or 11-32 in 9spd.

Depends where you ride mostly, you may or may not find a 36T a touch tall. I managed ok for a while with a 36T, but then I went on one truly steep ride and conceded after and fitted a 32T instead. But you may have stronger legs, or ride flatter terrain in general so see how you get on with the 36T first for sure.
