With the new 170mm reverb on the market for a while now, has anyone here tried it & got comments on reliability?

The reviewers on CRC don't seem too impressed... www.chainreactioncycles.com/rockshox-new-2016-reverb-stealth-seatpost/rp-prod145549?gs=1

Couldn't say long term but I got one of the first ones and it's been flawless so far. It's still a reverb so I won't be shocked if it develops sag... But the extra length really is worthwhile imo. So I was happy enough to replace my hugely trusted old KS with the less trusted reverb.

No but I was looking at Google reviews earlier and didn't sound good. Shame as I really would like one for my stumpy, still have over 50mm of clamped section left out of the frame with the old 125mm model but don't think I'll bother unless gen2 is better

Edit to say Google reviews are the CRC reviews, doh!

Mine's developed about 5mm sag after 4 hrs use.

More reports here; http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/reverb-b1-stealth

I also had one that only managed 5 rides before sagging.
Replace under warranty and 2 rides on the new one with no sag. Yet..

I've had mine since May, ridden atleast every week since then, plus two weeks in the Alps. No play or sagging, the post did feel a little dry when moving up and down, collar off and pushed some slick honey grease into the top of the post, all good now.

I think they're great but as in the thread posted further up, I've got two one has been flawless, the other needed warranty already.

I think the 170mm post is going to put more pressure on the seals and bushes so I'm being extra careful to keep it clean and will make sure it's well maintained. It's pretty awesome having that much drop!

I've had mine 4 months now and about 30 rides). Still works as well as the day it was installed.

Not sure how others care for theirs but I always drop a bit of lube on the 'shaft', and cycle it - after it's been either washed, or wiped down.

Didn't have any problem with the previous 150mm Reverb either.

Fine here. Lots of use over 3 months, and it's on a hardtail ridden on rough trails and off-piste, so it's taking some stick. Other bike's 150mm Reverb is also fine after 3 years of year-round hammer.
As above - I just lube, activate and wipe it once after each ride. Mint bit of kit.

I like the idea of this, got a 125 and still prefer to manually drop it "all the way" for proper steep stuff, 170mm should be spot on. But with my twice replaced "2year old" 125mm developing sag well within 12months each time I'm not sure if I buy another reverb.

but then I'm not sure any of the competition are better, atleast the RS warranty is quibble free.

We've been selling all the flavours for a while now (170 for about a month). We've not had a B1 back as yet touch wood, and that is comparatively miraculous compared to the A1 model.

Is there an easy way to visually tell what type you have? (without looking at the box it came in.....that you threw away)

Has it only been out a month? I should correct the title then, nobody is able to offer a long term review yet 🙂

B1 has gold writing at the top of the shaft.

Interesting that Rockshoxs' much-lauded internal redesign doesn't seem to have addressed the sagging issue from some of the reports above. I counted 11 bleed kits in my bike room drawer from 4 bikes with reverbs, so an average of almost 2 warranties per post.

I've just ordered a Fox Transfer as my Stealth is now over 2 years old & can't be warrantied again, but deliberated over the redesigned Reverb. Hopefully I've made the right choice.

Any other 170mm Reverb reliability reports?

I've had good luck with two 125mm versions in the past, a little bit of sag eventually but nothing to whine about. Looking to get a 150mm or 170mm version now. 150mm maybe more reliable?

It'll be a 30.9mm diameter one, and I know that the 30.9 150mm versions were scrapped two years ago when I was shopping for my previous one because of reported reliability problems in that diameter.

Ta.

Update - 10mm sag on mine now. Annoying knock when I hit bumps (i.e. virtually constant).

after 2 rides my 170mm post started doing the 10mm sag if not fully extended and about 5mm if fully extended. just living with it until I can be arsed to get round to sending it back. previously I've had 2 125mm ones, both of witch only developed sag after 2-3 years pretty heavy usage

Problem with my first, as detailed above. Replacement has been fine for four months (not done may miles on it but more than before the first died).

Had a 30.9 170 as soon as they came out, not had a single issue, has been ridden at least once a week and I'm no light weight, 6'6 and 17stone

I have a brand new boxed 30.9 Reverb 150mm B1. Which is now my second warranty replacement. First after 5 rides started to sag. Second after 10 rides developed some kind of resistance whilst dropping when raised back up the stanchion was scored and it would barely move. Both replaced.

I bought a brand X dropper which was £110 and has been faultless albeit with only 125mm of drop. I am not fitting the replacement and will be selling it... Such a shame as when they are working they are a great post.

Been looking at the fox transfer, which i will likely buy but waiting another month or so for some slightly longer term reviews.
