I have an 18″ orange five and sometimes it feels a little big.

Was looking at the 17″ spec but I can only see 6mm difference in top tub but 20mm difference in stand over height?

I don’t understand how only this two numbers can change?

Can anyone explain, and does anyone think it would be worth changing down a size?

IIRC the only difference between 17″ and 18″ is stand over height. It’s just geometry! How tall are you?

But what geometry changes are made when head angle and seat angle are the same.

    I’m 5ft 10.

Put a shorter stem on it – unless it’s standover that’s worrying you!

Yeah it’s more stand over than reach.

From what i understood the actual top tube measures slightly less on the 17″ but due to everything else staying the same the effective top tube is the same as an 18″
So if you get on with the length of an 18″ and just want more standover then go for a 17″ – that’s what i did on my last Five and it fit me very well.
