  • 140mm hard-tail frames? (that are not steel or ti)?

Looking to build up a hard tail and as I already have some 2010 Revelations, I want to use them.

I have a fair idea of what steel frames are about (Cotic Soul top of the list at the mo), but what ali frames are about?

    Can't afford ti.
I think the OnOne carbon 456 looks minging.
    Budget about £400.

No they aren't, the MMMbop is £275. And seems like a very nice choice to me.

DMR Trailstars can be had for dirt cheap (mine was £100 with a crankset and headset). Think they're meant to be 130mm but I'm running 140 with no problems so far, just slightly slacker.

    thanks for the replies.

looking for something lightish rather than 'grrrr'.

will go and check out the options. Has anyone seen a carbon 456 yet? are they better in the flesh? on paper they look the best option but I'm not keen on the images I've seen so far. I have no issue the carbon as a material.

Why not 100mm forks then? Would give you oodles of choice.

"looking for something lightish rather than 'grrrr'."

Then why build a 140mm hardtail? Perhaps shorten your revs and build around something lighter? Drop to 100mm and go with a Scandal?

already have an inbred running 100mm.

looking to put some 120mm forks on the Yeti asr-sl.

Already have the 140mm revs and it seems a shame to not use their full travel

Went and ordered a Pipedream Sirius Ti. I'm sticking to a '2 bikes only' rule so they may as well be really nice ones…
