What with a rather gimmy and flat new commute I have started to think about converting to single speed again, using a ShimanoDX Sprocket. These seem like a pretty solid object BUT i would really like to keep my 10speed chain and thick thin chainring, I’m going to sort out tension with a BB mounted chain devise as well I think.

Does anybody know if the sprocket will fit with the thinner sides of a 10 speed chain???

Depends if its 1/8″ or 3/32″ thickness

The inner dimensions of most chains are the same (3/32) apart from some singlespeed specific ones which are 1/8″.

Yeap I understand that it was more the width of the chain I was concerned about. pretty sure what you are quoting is the link length ???

Nope internal width. All that changes between a 9 speed chain and 10 speed is the plate thickness hence you can run a 10 speed chain on 9 speed drive train. Shifting may be an issue as front derailier is expecting a wider chain.
