    also looking to go 1×10

but the shimano 10 speed rear mechs i've seen all have really long cage, i like the idea of a saint mech just because it comes in a short cage (but 34t max)

anyone know if sram mechs are shorter (or is the big S make a short version?)

soooo, what size rings would you run up front if you stayed with current chainrings ? 42 and something else ?

I am running XT 1×10 on my bike.

It doesn't work with 9 speed mechs- the cable pull ratio is different. When set up with a 9spd mech the chain jumps 1 cog sometimes, 2 others, so it's not quite 1:1 and not quite 2:1.

(As I have an XTR 9spd rear mech though and am not willing to pay for a new one, I've bodged it. This is possible depending on where you mount the cable)

    I use 9speed rings and that's fine.

I also use a road chain because I had some knocking about and that's fine.

SRAM website suggests that there are S/M/L options; there were rumours of an XS length X0.

Anyone know if SRAM Exact Actuation is the same for road & MTB gear?

Great the answer I was looking for. 😀

I can use 9 speed chainrings

I need a new 10 speed cassette, 10 speed Rear mech and a 10 speed chain (road chain will do) oh and a 10 speed shifter.

and an increase in fitness to be able to turn the cranks 😆

I'm going to stick 1 x 10spd on my new hardtail.

I'm unfit so i'll run a 32 front ring then an 11-36 cassette at the back. thinking of xt cassette and mech, xtr shifters and cranks.
