MTB legend Charlie Cunningham took a spill in August, suffering broken bones and a head injury. Sadly, six weeks on there have been some complications and he is now hospitalised after emergency brain surgery. The road to rehabilitation is long, and his friends are holding a fundraiser to cover medical costs:

Charlie was there in Fairfax at the very beginning of mountain biking and was one of the four founders of Wilderness Trail Bikes. If you ride any kind of mountain bike, chances are many of the components on it were either invented or influenced by him, from your multitool to your hubs, aluminium frame to the tread patterns on your tyres. If he’s before your time, find out more about his work at Cunningham Bicycles, and if you have some sympathy and a few spare pounds, donate at GoFundMe. We wish Charlie as speedy a recovery as is possible.
