30 Days of Biking

Day 8 – 30 Days of Biking

by 0

If you’ve not heard of it before, 30 Days of Biking is a personal challenge with a charitable edge. People pledge to ride their bike every day in April, and for every two that do, 1USD is donated to World Bicycle Relief. This year we have six riders attempting the challenge.

Day 8

Some of our riders seem more concerned with beer than bikes, while others are very fitness focussed. Which camp are you in? Is it possible to be in both?

A puncture waiting to happen.

Paved with gold….quick spin round the hills today, ahead of the ‘paved with mud’ mountain bike ride tomorrow.

Giles

Craft beer, Brompton, tattoos: Giles has reached Peak Hipster.

Six micro rides today shuttling to and from work, cross town traffic to pick up bike parts for the Dirty Reiver next weekend and a scoot by the bottle shop for beer, tunes and trousers.

Greg, travelling light?

Off to Northern Ireland for the British Fell Running Championship race in the Mournes so had to ride in to work with all my weekend kit, and my normal work clothes. There is something about riding a fully loaded bikepacking bike that feels better than when the bags are half full. 45km. 1hr 40mins. 170m climbing.

Early one morning. Too early.

Post-evening-out-with-beer early morning trip back to the car, just too early for the sun to reach the Greenway. Evening ride back home after #DrinkBeerAtYourDeskFriday, via another beer. Who says cycling is healthy?

Lara

30 Days of Biking Bluebells
Bluebells, ivy, nettles, and what’s that other plant?

Yesterday, buses. Today, bluebells. Pretty sure I know which I prefer!

You mean people actually use these gyms?

A rather eclectic mix today: early morning off-road commute with a stop off at a the urban outdoor gym.

Weekend!

Woohoo! It’s the weekend! Go wild, go into the wild, ride bikes, clean bikes, buy bikes, watch other people race bikes, do something that doesn’t involve bikes at all. Whatever you’re doing, have fun.

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
