30 Days of Biking

Day 15 – 30 Days of Biking

by 1

If you’ve not heard of it before, 30 Days of Biking is a personal challenge with a charitable edge. People pledge to ride their bike every day in April, and for every two that do, 1USD is donated to World Bicycle Relief. This year we have six riders attempting the challenge.

Day 15

It’s the halfway point in #30DaysofBiking, and a Friday. Today our riders are preparing for a weekend of fun, and a couple look to have started early.

Fingerless gloves? It’s snowing up north!

It’s half way day, so what better way to celebrate than a ride with the girls? I’ve ridden with these women every week (more or less) for the last ten years and their friendship is one of the loveliest gifts that mountain biking has given to me. So, this is my ‘team’ (or at least their bikes!), about to get very wet and muddy on the (rainy) trails today.

Should have brought panniers.

All the biscuits, for tomorrow is Dirty Reiver!

Greg

Where is Greg? We’re not very sure. We know he spent some time in the police station reporting yesterday’s assault, and we saw him briefly at ST Towers where we gave him a test pair of Giro Privateers to help cheer him up (and look at them, they are rather lovely). We think he then headed off to the Dirty Reiver, which is in the middle of nowhere, and we think there’s no internets. So hopefully he’s off grid and having fun.

That titchy stream washed over this wall 4 months ago.

Poorly child duty and husband away. Rolled down the hill testing the kids’ walkie talkie range – turns out there’s not quite enough to do hill reps.

30 Days of Biking Mist
Online grocery shoppers are missing out on this.

I’d love to be up in those misty murky hills right now but that’s not today’s reality. A one mile round trip ride to buy bread will have to suffice.

Rachel

30 Days of Biking Van
A van full of promise.

Off for a six-bike, four-day, two-person adventure. First up was big bikes in the woods.

Half way!

Well, we’ve made it this far. Just about. We’ll forget about Greg’s running blip, shall we? And some of Hannah’s efforts are distinctly pathetic. Her husband has pointed out that there’s rollers and a spin bike in the garage if she wanted to Try A Bit Harder, but she is maintaining that Outside Is Better, even if she barely gets past the front garden.

Wishing you all a fun filled and adventure packed weekend!

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
