As the #beastfromtheeast shows little sign of relenting any time soon, we are sure that many of readers will be spending at least some of the weekend curled up in front of the fire with a good book. While ‘cross season may now be over, at least we can still read about it, thanks to the Cyclocross Bible

According to the press release, the author, Alex Forrester, draws on 25 years of experience: from training with, and learning the cyclocross trade from legends Tim Gould and David Baker, through to 17 Three Peaks Cyclocross races (including podiums, U23 wins, and broken ribs), to sampling the professional scene in races with stars like Sven Nys and Mathieu van der Poel.
The book guides the reader through from first race to how to ride the most challenging of courses in Belgium. It also includes helpful diagrams and photo sequences to assist any cyclist in ensuring they get the very best out of themselves and their equipment when racing ‘cross, and includes some stunning photography from world-renowned cyclocross photographer Balint Hamvas, among others. Quick-reference “essentials” boxes give hints and tips for fun, enjoyment, and success in this growing discipline.

Working as an engineer with Olympic athletes across many sporting disciplines, Alex is able to provide unparalleled technical detail for those who wish to delve deeper, whilst writing in an easy-reading style for all to enjoy. Co-author Mark Adams (British Cycling coach) shows you how to apply established training concepts to plan for peak performance throughout the cyclocross season, showing you how to train with, or without, detailed power data and analytics, whilst still enjoying the ride! Sports massage therapist Renée Lamb provides insight into how to look after your body with an illustrated guide to stretches and core exercises.
The Cyclocross Bible covers it all

The book is available as a coffee table style hardback and in paperback. £1 from the sale of each book, plus royalties from the 100+ colour images, goes to Ride for Charlie.
The book is available from all bookshops, including Amazon but it’s cheaper and quicker to get it from thecyclocrossbible.com. Author Alex is sending us out a copy, so we’ll keep you updated with how quickly it takes from couch to UCI points. Anything less and we’ll expect a refund…
