Alpkit announce new Sonder bike

by 0

We don’t really feature road bikes here on grit.cx; we are all about the #dirtydropbargoodness, after all. We are making an exception for the new Colibri from Alpkit’s Sonder Bikes though. We reckon it looks like the kind of road bike that would get us into a whole world of trouble exploring cols, riding long and far.

Smart looking

Here is what the Derbyshire based company has to say:

Compliant yet stiff, the Colibri’s full carbon frame is engineered for the big distances at speed. Longer chainstays make for fast, controlled descents and a slightly higher stack gives a more comfortable riding position to let those miles fly by. Thin seat stays increase compliancy over the bumps.
At the front-end, a full-carbon fork with tapered steerer and headtube gives confidence- inspiring precision steering and increased feedback, which capably handles unfamiliar roads and the tricky situations that come with the territory of longer, self-supported rides.
With comfortable clearance for up to 28mm tyres, the Colibri is responsive and forgiving: a rewarding ride that just eats up the miles. Ideal for a PB at your next sportive, for riding the climbs of the Tour de France, or for loading with luggage and racing across continents.

The team from Sonder took the new bike to Norway earlier this year. Looks like it was a tough trip. We aren’t jealous at all. Noooo…

The Colibri is availble as a frameset or in three builds. Check out the details here.

  • Frame and forks: £899
