In an effort to offer riders more mild riding conditions, organizers of the White Horse Ridge CX Sportive have moved the event up to 25 September. The date of its inaugural event last year was in November.
White Horse Ridge CX Sportive
The White Horse Ridge CX Sportive takes place on the Oxfordshire Ridgeway, Europe’s oldest highway, and has been in continuous use for 5000 years. Yes, there are three zeros in that number. The event route is 95% gravel, and sounds like a beautiful place to ride your dirty drop bar bike.

The Ridgeway mixes mile upon mile of grass, gravel, dirt and chalk track, riding high above sweeping views of the Oxfordshire plain. The terrain is perfect for CX. Flowing enough to tempt you to up the pace, with just enough lumps and bumps to test your stamina when you get there. The surface changes mean there’s always something new just up the track and the scenery is a constant inspiration.

Based at the Chilton School, the White Horse Ridge CX Sportive is part of the CX Sportive off-road endurance series of events, and it offers three distances: 80km; 60km; and 40km. Feed and support stations are strategically placed on the 80km and 60km distances (the 40km distance offers one drink stop), and electronic timing ensures immediate results for the finishers. Hot food and drinks will be provided at the start/finish.
