We saw everything from mountain bikes to well-used cross bikes. If we were to describe our perfect bike for the event, it would probably be a gravel bike, with 40c (or even wider) tyres, with a low profile tread. Gravel racing is still a very new concept in the UK though, so it’s no surprise that the vast majority of riders were on cyclocross bikes.
Here are the ones that caught our eye. This may not have done the Aggregate 100, but I’m sure it’s rider will do one day Some tidy and well coordinated aftermarket additions to this TCX Colour coordinated tape and cables Another kids bike that puts some adults’ rides to shame Not small Still not small. Sadly this finished with its mech looking less attached than it is here Any colour as long as… Holy steerer spacers Batman This is a cross race bike. You can tell because it says so on the top tube This is a cross race bike. You can tell because, well, look at it… What do we have here then? More news soon… A wee Kinesis Another wee Kinesis There was so much going on with this handmade 611, we’ll do a separate bike check on it. Tube carrying options were a necessity. There were many, many punctures… Shiny Not so shiny, but clearly loved Not #dirtydropbargoodness Who has been doing some 3 Peaks shouldering practice, then? Green and purple. It’s a thing. Bar tape win. It was first time out for Laura Scott’s 5T disc. She, meanwhile was fresh from the TransAmerica race An orange Orange
