Sram are somewhat pioneers when it comes to the 1X (pronounced One By) movement when it comes to mainstream manufacturers. Their CX-1 groupset is the only road/cross group available as standard in the format. We have one on test currently, and so far, we’ve been very impressed.
Derived from their mountain bike line up, CX-1 previously only had a cassette option that rose to 32 teeth. Now their are more options, should you want to seek out steeper terrain and not limit the top end gear by dropping a chainring size. The Powerglide 1170 11-36 cassette drops the lowest gear available by 13%, not an insignificant amount, although it will come at the expense of closer ratio’s mid block.
Available come January, this 366gram chunk of cogs will set you back £90 / $118. Full details can be found on the Sram website
