Issue 001 of grit.cx is now available in the iOS app store for all subscribers. The Android version is currently still being worked on and will be available in a few weeks.
It’s very late (about a month) and for that we apologise. Technical issues have slowed us down. The publishing schedule of the next few issues has been altered to take account of the delay but don’t worry if you subscribed early, no one will miss out on any future issues due to our delay.
To access the issues in the app all you need to do is click the ‘access’ button under the issues and then enter your site username and password that you set up when you registered on this site.
If you want to give it a try before you buy, there’s a free sample issue available to all in the app.
We are already working on issue 002 right now and that is scheduled for release on the 5th December.
Access to issues in the app is by subscription only, but subscriptions start at just £1.50 for a month of full access to all published issues plus many other features including a faster, ad free website and your own personal blog space on grit.cx. Just click ‘Subscribe‘ at the top right of this page to become a grit.cx member.
What makes a grit.cx subscription different from other digital magazine subscriptions?
If you subscribe to grit.cx you are joining us for a period of time rather than for a set number of issues – this means that you will have access to all Premier member content that we publish in that time. But crucially it also gives you full access to everything we have ever published, even if we published it before you subscribed. Think of it is a monthly or annual membership to join us inside our archive of published material.

Once we have our App in the Android store then each issue will be available for the vast majority of devices from phones to tablets. Reviews and other features from each issue will be published on the site for subscribers shortly after each issue is published in the app stores.

Yes indeed, that was the case at the time that was posted but due to the same technical issues that have delayed the launch of the iOS version the Android version is now a few weeks away. Again, I can only apologise for the delays.

Downloaded to iPhone 4S but keeps crashing after flicking through a few pages. Will try this evening on iPad 3 and report if that is more stable.

Sorry. That decision was largely made by Apple who have made it more difficult to develop for devices running iOS 5 and below. It is possible, but as iO5 and below make up below 2% of iOS users, most developers consider it to not be economically viable.
I presume you are running either a 1st Gen iPad or a 3rd Gen iPod Touch? Later devices can be upgraded.

Is it going to be released in mobi format for kindle the same as singletrack? Is this disparity between who gets to read the issue only going to be a problem with the first issue?

Hi, sorry to hassle you all again but is there any update on the Android app? As much as I love the new world of mobiles and tablets I find it hard to understand why you have not made issue 1 available to view online through a browser window as well. Not as a PDF file but as pages hidden in a restricted members only area. Looking forward to seeing the issue soon, I hope.
