just seen this, looks to me like a zaskar, ball burnished an butted front end..???
but im no expert....

no toptube end is flat on a zaskar

Andy's right, it was a flat plate with GT etched into it on the Zaskar.
Pretty much everything else about it looks identical to my 1997 Zaskar. That rear plate between the seat stays and the drop outs are the same, headtube gusset looks a bit skinnier.
