I’ll be there riding in tshirt and shorts hopefully. However, bike is currently without rear mech or hanger after an incident with a big bit of slate at llandegla last weekend.

I’m going to sign on on the day. My only functional bike at the moment in a mondraker dune so I’ll (hopefully) be borrowing a 80mm kona pahoehoe (with modern components). Cant see the point in a full susser or anything with >120mm bounce at Lee Quarry.

How strict’s the no tyre change rule?

So does anyone know ho much of a difference the trials and downhill make? and how long the xc ride is?

Yep Jonnie (Loco Racing) and myself will be there and racing (well he will, I’ll be pottling about 😯 )

Riding my Dialled Albert (gen 2 520) with Rev RCT3 (custom tuned ) and reduced to 130mm, flat pedals for DH and trails and clips for XC.

I’m going. Been meaning to do the weekender since they started running it.

Hopefully I can get my Sovereign built up in time, otherwise I’ll have to crank around the world’s heaviest Cube Fritzz…

    I’m going, and riding.
Super lightweight carbon XC full suss, with ISP and clipless pedals as that’s all I have functioning properly at present and I don’t actually own any flat pedals.
I may struggle a little on the trials section…
    .

Don’t know, but surely you aren’t taking it so seriously you would cheat at an event like this?

I’ll be there. Yellow Blur 4X. Just confirmed that we’re gonna stick around for the camping on Saturday night too. Say hello!

Must admit, I’m tempted to shove clips on for the XC… think I’ll take them and see how much opportunity for showing off there’ll be on the XC route :S

    Yeah,
was gonna go ( and race) but thought i’d better not show them up!!The world needs time to acclimatise to my expertise…. 😉
Have a good time peeps! Will be watching you all next year i rekon 😀

i’m going with my brother Ady since KT was cancelled 😕 This is despite my usual Isle of Man Steam Racket booking problems that led to me apparently sailing home on Saturday night rather than Sunday from Liverpool 🙄 . Look out for a yellow topped hobbit on Trek. may even camp if it stays nice…. Hopefully i won’t kill myself too many times….

😀 not really but would like the choice to ‘eject’ a little easier if it all goes tits up on the DH 😉

It’s a race innit, I’m pretty scared of the tyres I’ll be using for xc (rocket ron) for hitting gravelly corners and don’t really fancy muddy mary’s for the xc race. I’ve got no problem with the rule if it’s black and white and strictly enforced and the same for everyone (it does after all amplify the ‘all-rounderness’ of the event). I’d just rather not be holding back because I’ve got jeycore rubber and seeing others are running big tyres when I could have too.

Rich, emailed you RE the frame which needs taking to Lincoln.
I’ll check my emails about 5pm tomorrow but then I’m out of contact until Monday morning.

Mafiafish, that’s the whole point of the event though. You have to decide where you want to compromise. You need to decide which you think will be the best option for you – holding back in the DH with the Rocket Rons on or slogging round the XC with Muddy Marys.

It’s all about finding the best option for you.

The tyre rule is not strictly enforced by the organisers but that’s basically because it hasn’t really needed to be. Most people who go realise that cheating by changing tyres in such a fun event is pretty pathetic really.

mafiafish – you may as well just take a XC bike for the XC and a DH bike for the DH. Thats the point…

Rich – I might come and hunt you down for spin on your Singular if that’d be ok? Fancied a spin on one of these for a while 😉

I think we may have to start paying attention to tyre selections. Please don’t cheat, it only means we have to start spending energy on checking a lot and we’d rather do more fun things like marshal the two new optional trials obstacles, one of which involves ducks!

    🙂

Oh and this year the DH penalty system has been improved. Instead of the usual segmenting the final results order into 10% segments we are biasing the penalties to give those that perform well in the DH a better advantage. The reason being it was felt that in previous years the XC whippets could easily catch up to the DH guys in the first lap of the XC. The idea is that if you are an xc racer then you will still need to work hard in the XC to catch the DH and trials gods 🙂

I’ll be there, will be trying to squeeze as many Singulars as possible in to the car so DaveyBoy and any others can have a go

I’m taking my girls up to hurl abuse and rotten fruit at you all. They’re a bit keen though. Watch out for being overtaken by a 5 year old on a pink Hotrock 😀

Glad to hear the penalty system has a DH bias, because Im hoping gravity will pull my specialised pedal iron pitch to the finish. Not quite race fit see! After last weekends face plant/head plant combo in practice last weekend my full face brain bucket has paid for its self all ready.

Any peeps who want to camp Saturday but ain’t sure. Bring your bag & beers. My team “lame squid” have bottled out of camping, am gona be in a massive tent with space to spare. Say hello if you see me on a blue specilized pitch, in a white 661 or black XC lid going slowly as you speed past!

Gona go down this afternoon to set up, see what happens. Can’t wait

Am worried now, probably going to keep the full face lid on to hide my identity. So I can still walk down the street without embarrassment after been passed (& lapped) by your 5yr old girl, on a pink bike.

Judging by the amount of beer that Loco/Simon has bought I doubt I’ll be putting too much effort in to sunday’s racing…. 😀

there tomorrow marshalling, and possibly sunday (most likely just spectating).

Cheers for the clarification Mark, the extra weighting to the DH sounds good!
