Bought one recently.
I’d like to say the TdF etc didnt influence the decision….but in reality it probably did.
Its hard work.
Even a compact 34/50 chainset doesnt get close to the easiest gears on a typical MTB….i managed to cramp both thighs climbing a hill the other day having been out for only 10 miles or so….never experienced anything like this on a MTB.
Its been bought for fitness reasons, ridiculously muddy trails earlier this ‘summer’ meant i wasnt getting out as often as i would have liked….a road bike seemed the best way of covering some miles and not having to hose down myself and the bike after every ride.
It lacks the adrenalin of MTB riding and i dont intend to compete on a road bike whereas i’ve done Gravity Enduros and Mini-DH on the MTB….but there is a satisfaction in simply clicking off the miles.
