My daughter now has a 29er and has a set of kenda slant 6 wire beads on the bike.
What would people recommend as a lightweight 29er racing tyre.
We have been using intense tyres but don’t think they do 29er tyres!
    Any recommends would be great

A racin ralph (rear)/rocket ron (front) combo are good, or Specialised the captain/Ground control.
This is assuming you value lightweight over grip

Having just got a 29’er with Racing Ralph’s on it, I’m rather surprised just how ‘grippy’ they actually are, seem to work great on hard pack, loamy forest trails and welsh rock today.

They weigh **** all and go up tubeless, go for them

Anyone tried the Mythos 29er tyre.
Always used to ride it on my hard tail years ago and have good memories of it!!

Ralphs F&R here. I shall be using year round from now on.
I have some Smalkblocks that are great in summer but I won’t be using again.

Maxxis here. Ikons for dry, Beavers for wet.

Have a garage full of tyres and really should put a few on to wear them out or get the camera out and get on the ebay.

But tend to use these pretty much all year

Set Racing Ralphs, use most of summer, if getting dicey stick Ron on front.

Depths of winter and some wet muddy rooty trails I’ve been using Ron on the front with a Maxxis Medusa on the rear.

I think that you get used to a tyre and adapt your riding to it rather than having a shed load of tyres and figuring out “what tyre for?”

I’ve some bonty team 0, silly light 400(ish) g. I’ll never use them £25 for the 2 inc p&p really as new. Let me know if you want pics. I think they’re designed for racing.

bontrager 29-0 for racing only, or 29-1 for general use. Lighter and faster than RR

Just had some Spesh renegade turn up but not fitted yet
They look like a dry only tyre but always worth trying before making my

On my 26″ bike i swore by ralphs f/r most of the time maybe a nic upfront if trails were very muddy. However since going 29er i have used a set of Rubena Scylla (550g) which were good but a dry tyre and a set of Maxxis Ikon which are brilliant in all conditions so far i really like them only got the bog standard compound (565g/557g ) will stick with these for a bit.

rocket rons front and rear, i use them anytime i don’t know what the course or conditions might be. to the question about mythos tyres (assume irc mythos) i had some years ago and they were a decent allrounder and fairly light and fastish.
