Over the last few years I've learn't to do most of my own maintenance, with the exception of truing a wheel. I thought it was about time to learn this dark art, I have had a look on Park Tools website and it seems logical enough to follow.

So I need a Wheel stand, has anyone got any recommendations on a cheapish one?

    Just use your frame.

Take the tyre off and put the wheel back into the frame (which should be upside down so that the wheel can turn). Now fix clothes pegs to the frame pointing towards the rim and true your wheel. Unless you want it super-precise that'll do for you just fine.

Zip ties using the 'tails' as guides works well too.

def +1 on using a frame though.

I have an old large steel frame just for this purpose. Untill I get bolt thru wheels 🙂

Ah brilliant, didn't even think about using my forks.
