Just received my postal vote for the elections. The European Parliament elections is about 16″ long which is fair enough but its the parties standing that shocked me. There are the three usual suspects + the Greens, no surprises there, then about 12″ worth of various degrees of little england/UK/nationalist nutters. It seems that it has become the duty for every long retired brigadier, squadron leader or whatever to start a party recalling the Dunkerque spirit etc and shut out the nasty world beyond the freshly painted garden gate and nicely tended hedge.
