i’m after some new hubs to build for a touring wheel project and get stuck at Hope?! 😯 i already have them but the freewheel is just getting on mine and all my pal’s tits due to the noise

any thoughts on a nice, 36h solid hub?

    🙂

Lovely, light, long lasting (well, mine were).

I still use XT … I know they are a bit workmanlike, and [very] often come with a reputation of being a bit rubbish, but I’ve used them for years with no problems.

That said, I don’t jet-wash anything, and I know how to use cone-spanners, and like grease. 😉

Noisy hubs do my head in.

I like Surly hubs too, mine have (also) all been fine in a just-getting-on-with-it kinda way, but no freehub options there, so it’s front, or SS only.

Shimano XT. They will last you for years and are lovely and quiet. I do like Hope Hubs but there was no way I wanted that level of noise on my touring bike.

fixed if you really can’t stand noise.

I used Hope Pro3s on the Trans America ride last year, 5000 loaded miles with no issues. I cant remember the being too noisy. My girlfriend rode on a pair of 32h Ultegra hubs with unknown history with no issues either.
