Asking for a young work colleague. he’s not had a mountain bike for a few years since he fell off overtaking a bus and skidded down the road on his face, knees and elbows 😯

I have very little idea about cheap bikes so what’s worth looking at?
I suggested the Calibre Line 10 but at 750 quid he wasn’t interested, so cheaper the better I think!

    Love my Hoodoo.

If I was buying it again i’d probably get the Bizango though

Should be able to get a Bizango under 500 with some combo of discounts/sales.

Have a look at Merlin Cycles. They have some half price Diamond Back hardtails that look like great VFM.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Think he wants new, he was initially looking at a Voodoo Bantu and asked me what I thought.
Those Diamondbacks at Merlin look like a bargain but the £500 ones are all 15″ frames which would be too small as my workmate is probably 6’1″ish.
