Hi,

Been looking to buy a cheap jump bike but it seems that Corona has massively inflated 2nd hand prices and picking up a budget 2nd hand jump bike isn't as easy as it once was. Given that the prices have risen i'm considering just buying a new one, but when i've had a look round everything under £1000 just seems a bit underwhelming. I had decided on a Calibre Astronut but they're now out of stock everywhere.

Any suggestions?

A jump bike is single speed by default, no?

I think yt and canyon both do good value jump bikes, but not cheap . Winstanleys had a good selection when I was looking last year, also check dartmoor, I think slam69 stock them.

I ended up with a bergamont kiez, which is brilliant, but not made this year

built myself a dartmoor street fighter from spare and a couple of new parts. How cheap is your budget?

there are some good ones on pinkbike. I would still buy secondhand as you wont lose anything when you sell it after a year having used it 3 times 🙂

Don't know if this might be of interest but I have a 24" BMX (Stolen XLT) up for sale on the classifieds. Tried posting a link but it doesnt seem to work.
For what you want to do this might just be the ticket.

Get the Stitched 360 Canyon

Canyon now do splitit so pay over 6months, I've got one and it's insanely good. Rose the Bruce is also another decent option, the fork alone is worth £320 Rose

having specifically chosen a bike with the circus expert, in riding I'm not sure its worth it. I'd probably want a bolt-through front axle, rather than the cheaper qr (!) forks on some DJ bikes, but a fancy damping circuit just isn't really needed with the stiffness you should run forks at. I do find the lockout useful for pump tracks (even running the fork stiff, it absorbs a bit of speed from pumping if its not locked out), not sure if the sport has that or not

I have the old Rose The Bruce. Great bike, bullet proof, fab VFM. I got the one for ~£1000 with the pike DJ fork because, well, that's what I knew was good. Honestly, it's a pointless fork, you pump it up hard anyway so no need to worry about nice dampers or anything. i'd bu the cheaper model if i was in the same boat now....... probably 😉

There was a calibre astronut in go outdoors Stockton-on-Tees a few days ago they had a frame only option in store too. They wouldn’t deliver though you’d have to collect in store

If you've got up to a grand to spend then definitely go for something like the Canyon Stiched or a YT Dirt Love.

Very nice bikes with top spec bits.

Bargains to be had if you keep an eye open. I picked up a mk1 Santa Cruz Chameleon for £100 this time last year. Was a bit of a POS but did an oil change on the forks (Z1 Drop Offs), changed the boat anchor 24Seven bar and stem for a Thomson X4/Nukeproof setup, dual ply Minions for some Schwalbe table tops, took the gears off and for well under £200 I've got a fun little bike. Local jumps, Dirt Factory in Manchester, Bike Park Leeds etc... all great.

DMR Sect is £800, that gives you £200 for any upgrades you may want.
