I’ve popped in on the way to lee/cragg before now. Lots and lots on show.

‘Lee&Cragg’ and ‘Grisburn’ (Gisburn?) are nowhere near the Peak district.

from the bottom of Jacob’s ladder (Edale), you can more or less freewheel* to 18bikes in Hope.

er, because you asked about “well stocked bike shops” in the “Peaks”.

and, just to make sure i’ve done my best to help you appreciate, Lee Quarry is nowhere near the Peak District, nor is Gisburn.

if you end up in Hope, you could do worse than pop into the Woodbine cafe.

For buying something or just ogling?

If you need to get hold of something sharpish, you could pop into Merlin or Winstanleys on the way up the M6 from Peaks to the other areas you mention.

You could get pretty much anything from their websites over the counter, apart from full bikes, AFAIK.

I’ll get in straight away and say I like 18bikes and they’re lovely chaps, but well stocked is not words I’d use to describe the shop…

As you’ve picked a couple of locations over 70 miles apart I’d reckon any bike shop in the northwest will do.
Leisure lakes in bury is by far the biggest and does have some lovely stuff.
Freeride cycles is Disley are quite small but have a good range.
Mike Cookson in whitefield are good, and I think they’ve just expanded recently.

Another yes for 18Bikes and Freeride. The lads at Freeride are a nice bunch. I bought headsets for me and Mrs SOM recently and they seemed genuinely surprised that some other shops might actually charge to fit them. The had (have?) a gorgeous Mondraker Podium on display which I used to drool over.

I only posted what I did as the shop has won “shop of the year” and is a premium shop (or whatever the designation is) and is listed in every issue, so I assumed you would have seen that. It’s a great shop lots of interesting stuff. In fairness it isn’t the most bling shop you’ll ever visit but that’s a positive.

Its full of wrong wheeled stuff.
