[Closed] tubeless tyre psi ?
Hi all just wondering what psi you run in your tubless setup ? i'm riding a hardtail and trying out different psi for more comfort and traction , you help would be great !
Richie
38.7 in the rear
36.2 in the front
With big 2.2" (2.35" High Roller size) at both ends I'm running low 20s front, high 20s rear, although when it got very wet / snowy I let them drop by over 5psi before pumping them up. The bike, Camelbak and I total about 14 stone.
Over 15 stone on a hard tail with lust advantage tyres. 25 front, 30 rear.
20 to 22(ish) on the front and back of my 29er's
about 25 front and rear. they get tweaked slightly depending on riding conditions
24 front 26 rear.
I've been on 40psi on bonty mud x 26x2.0s on my rigid ss though I realised they'd dropped gradually to around 25 and ride very nicely actually
Similar I'm on 40 on my 29er 2.1 maxxis Ignitors which I reckon is too hard. I'll be dropping to 35 and then maybe 30 depending on how it goes.
I'm 16.5 stone.
2.35 Highrollers or Ignitors - 22.5psi. A few psi makes a huge difference. at 20psi there's a tendency for the tyres to 'burp' if you hit anything gnarly. Add a few psi and there is noticably much less grip.
Oh, and I'm 12.5 stone.
minimum 30psi front (or it burps/folds in turns) min 40 rear which makes it utterly pointless so I only run one up front. (2.5 dualply minion on 823 if it matters)
less than 11 stone and i can run down to 10 psi in a 2.4 nobby nic on the front and it still rides okay. 15 is SWEET though. 20 in the rear is a tad hard in all honesty.
Blimey some really low pressures being run! Take it most of you don't have particularly rocky terrain? No way I could run anything under 30 without denting a rim!
yesiamtom must be riding round his sandpit at them pressures.
35- front, 35+ back here.
35ish on Bontrager Jones Mud 2.1s

11 stone, 2.4" mountain kings. 22 rear, 20 front. Yes I do put some nicks in the rear rim, but no problems unless I let the pressure drop.
think I might run 25 psi sounds about right for a comfy ride and grip .....thanks guys ๐
Actually, I lied. That's where the wife's 2" nevegals were set (stan's conversion/conventional tyres). My lust advantage were 22.5 front and 27.5 on the rear. Came down cave dale okay on them today. That's pretty rocky.
Totally tyre size dependent, but with a narrow 2" Bonty Mud X on the rear of my hardtail, I have to pump it up to 40psi otherwise I'll just ding the rim on anything rocky.
On the front of my old DH bike in the Alps, on a proper UST setup (823 rim) I ran a Michelin comp 32 2.8" tyre for a bit... I started off with 20psi in which was way too much, ended up running it down around 14-15psi to get the grip I needed! (I was about 11 1/2 stone at the time).
30 on the front - 33 on the rear (High roller 2.35 and advantage 2.25 flow Rims)
33 front, 35 rear (Nobby Nic 2.1 F&R, Olympic rims)
All run tubeless but standard tyres
10psi...that must squirm all over the place.
In very soggy conditions I was running 15psi to get some grip (which worked) BUT ended up with dinged rims when I encountered a flinty decent. So now I run a min of 20psi, more like 25psi.
Tyres 2.35 Bonty Big Earl's and I weigh about 12 stone.
6'3", 13.5 stone plus gear. Riding Lakes/Calderdale/Peaks. FS trail bike. NOT a delicate rider!
Rear: ADvantage LUST on Flows - I start to feel nervous of damaging the rim if it drops below 30psi but this might be unwarranted.
Front: Single ply Minnion S/T on Flows - 25 psi typically.
Another perspective to counter that, from riding with a smaller guy on same rims and similar tyres, he will often be running 15f/20r on an mmmbop over that same terrain and doesn't have any problems.
this depends on the sidewall thickness for me. I'm 14 stone.
Generally, with 2bliss and Maxxis normal tyres run tubeless, I run about 30 psi. Any lower than this and they get a bit 'bouncy' on the rebound. with ust and thicker/stiffer sidewalls, I'll run anything down to about 24 psi, and on some old tiogas I got away with 18psi.
Mostly I prefer the lighter weight of the thinner walled tyres, so I tolerate a bit higher pressure.
