i had the oil in the egg cup to dip the spoke ends in 😉

adam i learned how to do it from roger mussons wheel building book
    http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/wheelbuilding/book.php

to be fair its really easy just take patience to get it spot on. or as spot on as you can be arsed to lol

Building wheels is all about taking your time, it is no black art. I built a set of DT 1.1 rims with DT Comp spokes on a set of Formula hubs at the weekend. As long as you are methodical and patient then it is all good.

PS. Shouldn't that Spokey should be red?

well it should be but i was recommended this key by the builder in the shop its the pro one with two grips and the wrong size but oddly it really does seem to work better than the red one

build went really well but i had a bit of drama getting the radial near perfect . side to side its perfect but radial there is some slight movement but prob next to nowt just looks more in the jig when looking for it prob not even .5mm

The red one is my favourite but brand new I find there is a little too much plastic surounding the jaws on the top surface which makes locating it on the nipple a bit sticky. I take a knife and slightly chamfer the edges to expose the metal jaws. This advice will be going ito the next release of the book.
