    Well, following a very successful demo day, thanks to JD Cycles of Ilkley, I am now the proud owner of this great machine.

    The advice from the shop was simple “enjoy it and ride it like you stole it!”

    Mixture of old and new parts and now ready for the weekend !!!

    Lovely 😀

    I’m picking mine up this weekend. Out of interest is that a medium? And how tall are you?

    It’s a medium and I’m about 5 foot 11 or 183cm

    I prefer a shorter TT on my bikes

    Nice bike Recycler 🙂

    1) I’m the same height and I’ve been confused as to the Yeti recommendations as it suggest a Large, yet my previous bike pretty up measures up to a Medium
    2) I’ve been trying to find out where to get a demo and JD Cycles is right on my doorstep. Bonus!

    Enjoy the bike. BTW, what did it cost?

    Thanks KingofBiscuits

    The cost is what it is !! standard RRP for the frame – no Yeti discounts. I supplied most of the rest and JD Cycles put it together.

    They were great and give a brilliant service – I’d highly recommend them.

    I had the same dilemma but test ride sorted that out.
    I went for a large but then I’m 6.1.

    Where are you based?

    ASR5a as well, and an old DJ. Both scare me a lot.

    @solman I’m Leeds based and I’m also 6′ – 6′ 1″ on a good day (which I thought was around 183cm?)

    Basically I previously rode a 18″ Five, hence similar geo on the Medium ASR5. Yet the Yeti recommendations are for a Large. Other people of similar height have mainly opted for a Large too. Although from what I’ve been reading some, like Recycler have gone for the smaller bike. When I say smaller this is still an 18.8 inch frame.

    I sat on a Large ASR5 last year as one of the lads I was riding with on holiday had one. I must admit my first impression was that it was too large. Although I was comparing that to what I was used to and I didn’t really ride it. Just sat on it.

    I suppose the geo figures make me think that I’d be perched quite high up and quite stretched on the Large ASR5 although I really need to try one as I’m fed up of wondering.

    What size is the JD Cycle demo bike? May give them a call.

    Pwhoar I loves me a Yeti. 😯

    Nice bike, I was tempted to invest in one for my 40th

    What about your 35th?

    @kingofbiscuits

    When I test rode the medium, I had to push the seat right back on the rails midway into the ride. The LBS also had a look at me riding it and also suggested that it may be a bit small.

    But they said I could fix that with a longer stem. But I didn’t want to do that as I prefer a shorter 80 to 70mm stem set up. Plus I didn’t want to buy a new stem.

    I’ve now just picked up my large Yeti and the sizing seems spot on.

    There are 3 things that helped me choose the size:

    1 – LBS watching me ride and advising on sizing.
    2 – The test ride
    3 – The fact Yeti recommend a large for my height. I would hope that with all the effort gone into making such a decent frame, they would be accurate with sizing guides.

    But thats just my view point and experience.

    @solman Thanks. Where are you based?

    It would be nice to throw a leg over a large frame if you are in or around Leeds. Same goes for you @Recycler for the Medium.

    I went to JD Cycles yesterday and have asked if they can get me a Medium ASR to test. I had a car park pootle on one of the lads Mojo SL-R and according to the geo that is practically the same as the Medium ASR 5?? Although the Large ASR5 frame on the wall didn’t look to big?

    Either way I should find out soon what frame size suits.

    BTW, first time in JD Cycles, Ilkley yesterday. Quite impressed.
