I’ve a pal who regularly turns up in the UK and does a bit of exploring. We have a second car that we wouldn’t miss for a few weeks. Is it possible to put an Aussie driver on your insurance and thereby save him a few hundred quid? Any pointers would be most gratefully received (or any leg-pulls).

I did that exact thing, for aussie family, half a dozen years ago.

I can’t remember how I did it…. so that would indicate that it wasn’t too complicated … guess I just rang my insurance company ??

    Good luck

Just phone up your insurers and place them on cover as named drivers, maybe worth asking friend for copy of his licence to send to them

If you can add them to your yearly insurance then do it , standalone temporary insurance is expensive as I am finding out after a change of car and needing to keep one insured whilst I dispose of it , bangernomics for somebody -I am not scrapping it.
