With winter looming are there any particularly good fenders available for a Krampus / ECR which still work with panniers?

One puts fenders out when mooring alongside to protect one's boat.
One puts mudguards on a bike for weather protection.

I know a bloke who has a xl mudhugger and a enduro guard front thing (like Nicks) for sale cheap.
