Tesco in Galashiels have a WD40 rack in amongst their alcoholic drinks and halogen bulbs in the crisps aisle. WTF is that all about?

it’s all about marketing and drawing your attention to things because they “appear out of place”, hence they’re more visible. They’re often things that you might forget you need (bulbs and oil are two such products that you might think – ooh yeah, I need some oil)

Equally, if it’s just a small display, to fit that in where it should go will need a space. Creating that space isn’t always easy as it means moving far more things than just the equivalent volume.
