We’re fortunate to have a non shaded roof that points due south. Unfortunately it’s mid terrace Victorian house with slate tiles.

I had a green energy surveyor round this afternoon and he couldn’t recommend it. Based on the roof size he thinks only 6 panels would fit and at 1.5kW the setup wouldn’t be worth it. Interestingly he wouldn’t even give a ball park figure of the cost of a typical 6 panel setup.

With the feed in tariff at 14p ‘ish, is domestic solar finished? I see more and more solar farms around me, Norfolk.

you get less on the feed in tariffs these days but it’s because the cost of solar panels is way less So prices could balance out?

Solar farms are almost finished tbh – just finishing up the last few ‘big’ ones – 40 megawatt+ and then they all go sub 5MW.

The next push is for big installs on roofs of industrial areas/businesses and floating ones on reservoirs.

You are 2 years past the real benefits of domestic installs
