woody2000, I knew instantly where these were! A superb one day walk - the worlds greatest so they say. I have many almost identical pics from last year (snowy) and '95, red hot! Did you make it to summit of Ngnarohoe (the big Conical one to the righ -out of shot) (Spelling?), that I would like to do!Happy days...

Only just qualifies as a mountain, and I've posted the pic a couple of times before, but I do love this one:

scruzer - we were a bit pushed for time unfortunately, so we just did the straight walk with no side trips. Will definitely go back tho!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordillera_del_Paine
I did the full circuit. Stunning. It's supposed to be about a week's trek, but it's not quite that long.
Situated at the bottom of the Andes in S America, the highest pass is only 5000ft, but the walking circuit is quite magnificent& not at all difficult to trek. You walk around the edge of the massif.

Up close, Cerro Torro is awesome.

Summit of Signalkuppe (punta Gnifetti) on Swiss/italy border (me on left)
Taken outside the Margherita Hut at 5am. The hut is the hightest building in Europe at 4557m (15000ft), precariously perched on the summit.

Ol Doinyo Lengai in Northern Tanzania - one of the coldest volcanoes in the world

[img] [/img]

The crater at the summit taken a day after an eruption and a few days before it blew again:

[img] [/img]

Walking across the floor of the crater in the semi-darkness, crunching on the crust as we went is an experience I'll not forget anytime soon...

Enough of ze snow, ja?

How about one of the most iconic faces of South Africa, Table Mountain.
My son is on holiday in SA at the moment and he is climbing up the front side of Table Mountain today. He is only 9,hope he will be fine. He is with my cousin who is a professional climber, so I'm not worried, more jealous!

Here are my two.

The first was taken at first light. We were already at 2000m so you are just seeing the last 1718m of Mt Teide.

[img] [/img]

Then the view from the top along the ridge of the Anaga and Mercedes mountains.

[img] [/img]

Just a shame we can't take bikes right to the top 🙁

Woody, nice one, it looked a bit like that the next day but I only have a few on the laptop. Fantastic place but horrible weather. I honestly thought our camper was going to blow over.

2hottie, I am so jealous of that Lake Matherson photo, camped o/n nearby and goy up real early to try and get some nice shots but the wind was up and the clouds in 🙁 Next time.
