I’ve just bought a black frame and debating whether to stick with all black for cables, seat post collar, bars etc or whether to do some subtle colour coding.

    Give me some inspiration 🙂

I’ll post up some pics later – off for a ride now. Mine is the dreaded black n gold but very subtle(ish).

My hybrid is matt black with black parts, apart from orange Superstar pedals and lime green cables. Inspired by the orange and lime tic tacs. 🙂

    Commuter/CX bike

Post winter will replace jockey wheels (have blue ones to go on), cassette, chain, chainrings (for black ones) and will replace chainring bolts with blue ones as well. No more plans for blueness after that

“Dark side” is good, its a road frame I’m building up

My hornet had orange wheels so the grips matched those, then I got the black wheels so the cranks looked stupid so now have purple ones. Grips will be replaced with black or purple when they need replacing.

Mush better. – EDIT – those pedals have been replaced with new black nanos. No reflectors!

Doesn’t look like this anymore, the red cable outers are a thing of the past, and the chainsets’s now an XT 2×10 so the bash has gone too. The cable outers weren’t to everyone’s taste, but one STWer recognised the bike from its pictures during the Holme Valley Challenge, so it wasn’t in vain….

Coloured cables look utterly rubbish on any bike (though Nobby may just get away with it as they are mostly inside the frame – lovely looking bike that).

I don’t have a decent photo! This is the best I can do..

Red floating rotors and red lockon clamps, red cage holder bolts, red valve cap, white hubs. I don’t think anything else is coloured.

^ That Nomad is lovely, I wouldn’t want to ride it, as I wouldn’t want it to get dirty, it would just be hung on the wall gathering dust! Looks awesome.

    Thanks Milkie.
It doesn’t look like that any more after the frame was changed under warranty and I bought new forks and 11speed XTR.

If its a road bike I recommend matching the saddle and bar tape colours, i.e. white saddle, white tape.

Personnally I’m not a fan of colour-matched tyres, had them before but took them off. I’d also keep the cable housing black, but as its a road bike it wouldn’t look to garish unless you’re running full-length housing – in that case definitely go for black.

Try to match your seat collar with your stem/stem cap/spacers, bottle cages etc. but I think it depends on the style of the frame. if its a nice steel or classic looking frame then a polished seat collar looks reet smart.

Thems just my opinions, I’m sure others will disagree.

I quite like the colour coded cables / hoses and am guilty of it!

Not got any pics of my Rune at work. I thought it looked good – ano black frame, white decals with white saddle, bars, forks and cables / hoses.

Mainly black with a bit of white and red. Oh, and a gold chain 😳
